General Notes on Corinthian Annual Cruises
An Annual Cruise for members and invited guests has been held since 1964 and has drawn fleets of up to 90 yachts. The first event is occasionally a distance race (sometimes several "feeder races") which brings the combined fleet together. For the ensuing week, port-to-port day races are held for racing and cruising (no spinnaker) divisions, with a wind-up dinner and awards presentation in some attractive port.
Family crews are prevalent on the cruise; some boats come along without racing. In recent years, the scene of the cruise has varied from Mystic and eastern Long Island Sound to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Island, Cape Cod Bay and coastal Massachusetts to Boston, and coastal Maine.
In addition to the Annual Cruise, separate mini-cruises are held in some of the fleet areas at times selected not to conflict with the Annual Cruise , notably, the Chesapeake Bay Cruise sponsored each year by the Annapolis Fleet or the Philadelphia Fleet.
